Making Your Home Sing Monday

Making your home sing Mondays

Welcome to the Making Your Home Sing Monday meme! Every day you are doing something to make your house into a home for yourself and your family (if you have one). My point with each Monday post is, what are you doing or going to do today to make your home sing?

It can be an attitude or an action. Motivation, our attitude, baking, encouraging our husband or children (if we have either one), organization, cleaning, saving money....the opportunities are endless.

Wow, I don't think I managed to visit or comment on any blogs or links this past week. Facebook was about all I managed and even that wasn't much. I just haven't been on the computer much lately.

Who can be inside when there's sunshine outside???? I went walking a few times down by the water with a friend, walked in my own neighborhood, sat out on the deck with a good book, etc.

The weather has not been very hot, oddly enough, but it's been warm enough to be comfortable but not a heat wave like some of y'all have been experiencing.

I tried to upload a cute video I found about something but for some reason it wouldn't upload. So now I don't have a post and I guess I'll just get right to the meme!

What are you doing or going to do today to make your home sing? Please go here for instructions and/or ideas and come back here to link up to join us today! Making Your Home Sing Monday: What's In YOUR Closet?

Making your home sing Mondays

Welcome to the Making Your Home Sing Monday meme! Every day you are doing something to make your house into a home for yourself and your family (if you have one). My point with each Monday post is, what are you doing or going to do today to make your home sing?

It can be an attitude or an action. Motivation, our attitude, baking, encouraging our husband or children (if we have either one), organization, cleaning, saving money....the opportunities are endless.

Have you ever walked into your bedroom to put something away and suddenly found yourself cleaning out a drawer or organizing your closet?

Yeah. Me neither.

Recently I suddenly found myself taking everything out of each drawer in my dresser and sorting through stuff. I found a few strange things in there like a candy bar (have no idea how old it is but my hubby stuck it in there as a surprise). You would think I would have noticed it but it was at the bottom and I've been wearing lots of flip flops to show off my sassy new pedicure.

I found a list of stuff that I wrote in a kind of cryptic shorthand and now I have no idea what any of my abbreviations mean. I may have solved the problem of world peace but I guess we'll never know.

I found a tootsie roll pop. Apparently we have a running theme here.

I found some batteries and an electronic thing that used to belong to my son. In my sock drawer. I probably hid it from him or something, lol!

I found a shirt that I had been missing. It was IN the drawer. Imagine that.

I found an eyeliner pencil in another drawer. Just hanging out with my sweatshirts, I guess.

I also found a shirt with the TAGS still on it. I was supposed to take it back to the store. One year ago. Ooops.

Something like this sure shows you what your "favorites" are when it comes to clothes. My favorites stay near the top and I don't get to the bottom.

So I started a thrift pile and I am thinking that I need to look at what's inside my closet next. Why don't you join me and make your home sing this week?

Making Your Home Sing Monday: Move It, Move It!

One minute I was posting a facebook status that my treadmill had died and the next minute I was in a walking group. Who knew?

When I was a kid I ran, played baseball, football (tag), soccer, volleyball, basketball and climbed whatever tree I could find. I was a tomboy.

I think it says a lot about me now by the fact that my boys find that very hard to believe.

Sigh. I blame all my brothers. However, I also played with dolls and was a "girly" girl, for that I thank my sisters.

In my sophomore year of high school I ran track. After that I discovered acting and no longer did sports. However, I walked nearly every day to school and for fun and because I didn't drive yet. If I wanted a pop or a candy bar or french fries, I walked.

In my early 20's I was driving, not walking. I did go for occasional walks on the beach or roller skating or on a hike but only on a date or with friends. Unless it was snowing. I had to walk in the snow!

I never felt any motivation to exercise. At that time I was naturally thin and so did not see a "need" to exercise, even though I knew it would be good for my health as well.

Then came marriage and children a few years after that. The only exercise I got was chasing a toddler and if you've ever chased a toddler you know that's exercise. But toddlers get older.

Before the kids came I joined a gym and went a few times, but never enough to make it a habit. I also tried an exercise class with a friend of mine and we spent most of it giggling in the back row. I even took a dance class but had to quit after I found out I was pregnant and had to go on bed rest for awhile.

After the kids came I bemoaned the baby weight but just couldn't make myself do anything about it. As I got older I knew that exercise would be good for my health, but I didn't do anything about that either.

But over a period of years I have tried to establish an exercise habit. Hurting my back interrupted that for awhile but eventually I was allowed to go for a walk again, although it was really, really slow in the beginning. For my first walk, I walked down the driveway and back, wooohoo!

My main method of exercise had been the treadmill but I've been doing Zumba for awhile now (I have the dvds). Until it died. The treadmill, not Zumba. This week I will be walking a few nights a week with several friends. We all just sort of decided to do it on facebook and messaged one another back and forth.

So, what about you? When was the last time you did exercise that didn't involve chasing someone who was determined to flush a sock down the toilet?

Whether you'd like to lose a few pounds or want the health benefits (or both), exercise is not going to come after you, you have to go after it.

So walk/run up and down your stairs for ten minutes, jog to the mailbox and back, do squats while loading the dishwasher or unloading the dryer, pop your favorite exercise dvd in, go for a walk or hop over to youtube and find a video you like.

Get moving and make your home sing this week!

Technically It Still Qualifies As Housecleaning

Need I say more??????

Technically it still qualifies as house cleaning because I am thinking about house cleaning and "doing" something about house cleaning. Right?

Think about all the time I spent looking for all those great cleaning and organizational ideas. I put a lot of thought and effort into it.

I mean, aren't we always telling ourselves "it's the thought that counts?"

So, there you go.

Now you can pin away and be guilt free. Sort of. If you look at it the same warped way that I do, that is!

Wow, summer has finally made it to our little town. Who knew? We're not getting the record heatwave that some of you are getting, but I am o.k. with that.

However, it's up in the 80's for a couple of days so I will say that summer is here to stay. At least for a few weeks, lol! I left my friend's ranch just in time as they are having triple digit weather! Not for me, thanks.

Hot weather, and no air conditioning, can make you rethink your daily routine. Suddenly exercising in the afternoon is less appealing. Baking something in the oven is even MORE less appealing (how do you like that for a sentence?).

Certain foods don't have any appeal and the smell of grilling meat sounds awesome. Smells awesome too. Eating outside can be fun and annoying at the same time (depending on the neighbors and the bugs).

My oldest son prefers the rain and overcast weather and my youngest son prefers the sun. So one of them is usually happy and the other is usually disappointed, depending on whether it's raining or sunny.

And *I* just disposed of a spider on the wall who is SUPPOSED to be outside in this gorgeous weather instead of inside my house. I mean, really??????? Dude, you did wrong. But I digress.

This week I am going to make my home sing by enjoying the weather, exercising in the morning before it's too hot, and trying to figure out a fun summer menu. I think I will clean a few things too........

By the time you read this I will be out of town on a mini vacation with some friends. I am scheduling it ahead. I am heading to a ranch! Friends, food, fun, animals and lots and lots of beautiful acres. The best part is that it's free as it's at a friend's house. Can't beat "free!"

I am still working my way through last week's meme links, so forgive me if I haven't made it to your entry yet! I haven't been home much and now, of course, I'm going out of town (or will be by the time you see this, lol!)

So, as a result, I have no post for this week. I hope you have a safe and wonderful Fourth and thanks for linking up!
